The latest at Constantine House

With just a few months to go until we open the doors of Constantine House, we wanted to give you an update on our progress at this beautiful and historic building.

The schedule of works completed over the last eight months has included; repointing of the chimneys, roof repairs, loft insulation, first fix plumbing and electrics, partition walls for the new bathrooms, installation of structural steel to the new reception and lounge areas, as well the fitting of 38 beautiful new double-glazed timber sash windows. The bathrooms are nearing the stage where the sinks and showers can be fitted, and we are looking at samples of paint colours in the first bedrooms.

Many of these upgrades are designed to significantly enhance the thermal properties of the building, in line with our vision to create a sustainable and energy efficient new future.

As you may have seen from our floor plans, there is a huge contemporary space to the rear of the building, serving as the breakfast / lounge area. Earlier this month, the 4m high steel structure was erected and is now in position ready for the timber joists and the roof to be added, and the installation of a large rectangular rooflight. Underfloor heating is being installed and new limestone tiles have been selected.

Heading into November we’re expecting the arrival of the oversized glazed doors which will enclose the breakfast area and give wonderful views over the countryside. We’ll be upcycling enormous slate slabs for the countertops - these were originally installed in the cellars of the house in 1850 as shelves for curing bacon - and we are enlisting the help of architectural stone experts up the road in Derbyshire to cut and polish these down to size.

Photos and videos from behind the scenes will become more frequent on our social media channels during the final few months of the build so follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see how we’re getting on and please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions about any aspects of the build.
